Waiting to go home: 48,000 evacuated in Myanmar floods

The recent flood in Myanmar has caused displacement of thousands of people. A recent report states that at least five people have been killed and 48,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes due to the heavy monsoons and resulting floods. The residents of Bago city, located northeast of Yangon, have lost their homes due to the floods.

People have been forced to find temporary shelter in monasteries, schools and higher places. Volunteers have been providing necessary food including instant noodles and drinking water, as well as giving out meal packs of rice and egg curry. Myanmar Red Cross is also involved in the evacuation process and providing healthcare services to the affected people.
