Thriller Thruxton: The Next Stop in Bennetts BSB Championship Title Battle
The Thruxton circuit in Hampshire, England is coming up next in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) title battle this weekend (August 11-13). Last season, Thruxton produced one of the closest finishes of the season and this year the race will be just as thrilling.
Six different race winners and nine podium finishers have represented four different teams in the 2023 season. Amongst these racers, Ryan Vickers achieved a career first Bennetts BSB victory at Brands Hatch after a long and impressive race.
Tommy Bridewell and Glenn Irwin, both from the BeerMonster Ducati team, actually top the current point standings. However, for the Yamaha teams, they will be sure to rely on the success from last season, with Kyle Ryde, from the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha team, leading the charge and currently in third place in the standings.
Meanwhile, after a difficult weekend at Brands Hatch, FHO Racing BMW Motorrad’s Josh Brookes is aiming to make a comeback and ride ahead of his teammate Leon Haslam, who trails Brookes by only five points.
In addition, Jason O’Halloran, from the McAMS Yamaha team, will be looking for a repeat of last season’s success, as will Christian Iddon from the Oxford Products Racing Ducati team. Then there is Lee Jackson, from the Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki team, who is still searching for his first podium finish of the season.
The title chase is fast approaching, and with race wins and podiums placed already distributed amongst the load of racers, it would seem that Thruxton is setting up to yet again be an exciting weekend full of close races and career firsts.
