Nigerian Singer, MohBad Dies At 27

It is with profound sadness that the music industry and fans alike mourn the tragic passing of Nigerian singer and rapper, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who passed away at the age of 27. The sad news was shared by music executive Ovie during the evening hours of Tuesday.

Ovie conveyed the heartbreaking announcement with the words, “Confirmed. MohBad is dead. Sad, sad day.” Mohbad was formerly associated with Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records” but parted ways with the label in 2022. Despite leaving the label, Mohbad was still widely recognized for his chart-topping singles, including “Ponmo,” “Feel Good,” and the viral hit “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” with Rexxie, which garnered three nominations at The Headies awards in 2022.

The news of Mohbad’s death is particularly troubling as he had recently been going through a distressing period in his life and attempted suicide due to his conflicts with Naira Marley’s Marlian Music. A recent revelation from singer, Bella Shmurda confirmed this.

In light of this tragedy, it is hard to process and accept the sudden passing of such a young and talented artist. One can only hope that his music and legacy will live on, and that his spirit will be remembered lovingly and respectfully.

Mohbad’s untimely passing is a stark reminder of how fragile life is and how we should savor every moment. May he rest in peace
