50 years of hip hop and counting! Hip Hop turned fifty this year and The Shade Room and The Shade Room Teens are recognizing the exploding genre of music all month long. To do so, they’ve collaborated with the streaming platform Tidal to make the ‘TSRT: The Best of Gen Z’ playlist. This fun and upbeat playlist has 41 tracks from award-winning, trendy and up-and-coming artists like Latto, Ice Spice and NBA Youngboy.

To honor the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and the TSRT-Tidal Playlist, TSR would like to recognize three artists that should definitely make it to our Spotify playlists.

Gloss Up has been making a name for herself since meeting GloRilla in 2019. Her quality control label debut album titled ‘Before The Gloss Up’ came out in January. She is featured on the TSRT-Tidal Playlist twice so get into her summer mix of rap music.

Luh Tyler is another artist worth zooming in on. At only 17-years-old, he has been making waves since last Summer. His cousin signed on to be his manager, and he inked a deal with Atlantic Records, all before his 18th birthday. He was also the talk of the town when he performed on the Rolling Loud Miami 2023 stage with a five-song set. His song ‘First Show,’ is featured on the TSRT-Tidal Playlist.

Last on the list is somebody you may not recognize. Flau’jae Johnson is a LSU Women’s Basketball Star that also has an interest in rap music. Her father, stage name Camoflauge, died 6 months before her birth but this did not deter her passion. She went on to participate in The Rap Game and America’s Got Talent, and eventually landed adistribution deal with Roc Nation. Her track, “Big 4 Anthem,” is featured on the TSRT-Tidal Playlist.

Don’t forget to check out the masterful and entertaining TSRT-Tidal Playlist dedicated to the best music from Gen Z artists. We hope you jam it all month long in honor of Hip Hop’s big 50th year anniversary
