The Lagos State Police Command recently arrested Samuel Adeniyi who killed his girlfriend with a sledgehammer. The state Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa disclosed that the suspect’s justification for the killing was because he suspected that his girlfriend might leave him for another person.

Owohunwa during the parade of the suspect and other crime suspects stated that Adeniyi had got consumed by his emotions and smashed his girlfriend’s head with a sledgehammer. The police were able to apprehend the suspect and recover the sledgehammer used in the attack.

The CP further revealed that in the one month since Operation Flush was started, the police have achieved several successes by raiding criminal hideouts, arresting cultists, traffic robbers, and other suspected criminals. Owohunwa further assured the public that the police will continue to work hard to ensure that the state is safe and secure.

Lagos State proves to be a clear example of how dedicated police can come together in pursuit of justice for victims. Not only did they show diligence in capturing a suspect with a dangerous weapon such as a sledgehammer, but they were also able to unearth other crime hideouts and nab several suspects in a relatively short amount of time.

We can only take assurance in the fact that the police are doing all they can to ensure justice is served in this case. Public safety and well-being should always be of paramount concern and Lagos State Police Command has done well to demonstrate this. It is our hope that this is maintained to create a more peaceful environment for the residents of Lagos State
