In 1992, Kool G Rap and DJ Polo released their third studio album Live and Let Die. Despite containing street anthems like “Erase Racism” and “Real Life,” the standout cut is arguably the album’s title track. Kool G’s first single as a solo artist, “Ill Street Blues” is a somber ode to inner-city dwelling and lyricism personified with the two-verse delivery from the hood’s proverbial poet.
