Horror recently struck Ondo State after the Police Command detained 45-year-old Bankole Oginni on suspicion of murdering and dissecting his girlfriend in his own room in Akure, the state capital. A caller reported the incident to the B Division Police Station in Oke-Aro neighborhood of Akure, giving the police the information needed to pursue Oginni.

SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the state police command, revealed to Channels Television that the victim’s lifeless body was still in the room when they arrived. In addition, her hands and feet were bound, her intestines taken out, and burns scattered on her body, indicating hot water was used for torture.

Oginni is now under the custody of the police who are attempting to bring justice to this tragic case. The investigation is still ongoing and no further information has come forth yet.

It is unknown what brought about such an act or the real motive behind it. Whether Oginni was motivated by jealousy or demonic intentions, we may never know. The investigation is yet to uncover instances that can be used to explain such an inhumane act.

This crime has left the general citizenry in Ondo state aghast and angered. Such acts of violence and disrespect of human life should never be tolerated. We must seek justice for the victim and hope a lesson can be learned from this.

In any case, this is an extremely unfortunate incident and we hope that the authorities can wrap up their investigation as soon as possible. The truth must come to light to get the justice this victim deserves
