The West Bank is in a fragile state since a spate of terror attacks began nearly a year and a half ago. On Sunday morning, that violence continued as an Israeli man was seriously injured and his two daughters were lightly hurt in a terror shooting attack near the settlement of Tekoa.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the assailant or assailants opened fire from a passing vehicle at the victim’s car. The Magen David Adom ambulance service took the 35-year-old man and his two daughters, both aged 9 and 14, to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. The man is in serious but stable condition and the girls were treated for shrapnel injuries.

The IDF has launched a pursuit after suspected perpetrators of the attack. This is not an isolated incident as there have been several cases of terror shootings, attacks on military posts, troops along the security barrier, and more directed at the Israeli population in the West Bank.

The increased tension and violence points to further instability in the region. The Israeli military has been conducting near-nightly raids with individuals suffering in the line of fire. Such terror attacks are especially concerning coming from the Palestinian population, with innocent human lives in jeopardy.

It is essential that all sides come together to find a solution to this impasse. Everyone must take steps to de-escalate violence, heal wounds, and make sure that terror attacks like these do not happen again. New policies and strategies must be implemented to ensure peace and stability in the West Bank. Ultimately, it will take dialogue and communication from both sides to ensure that all communities in the West Bank can live in harmony
