Xavi Hernandez Interview
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez recently gave an interview with Sport as quoted by MARCA, in which he expressed his thoughts on the potential return of Lionel Messi to the Blaugrana. Xavi believes it would be “fantastic” if Messi were to return to the club. He went on to say that “We don’t know what will happen, but it would be fantastic if he returned”.
Barcelona’s Future with Messi
Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 due to some economic issues at the club. His departure left a gaping hole in the side, but Xavi believes his return would be a major boost for the Catalan giants. “Leo is the best player in the world and we need him in the team. He has been part of this team for so long, and he knows what it means to be a part of Barcelona.” Xavi added.
Economic Issues at Barcelona
Barcelona is currently in a state of financial difficulty due to the pandemic and the club’s decision to invest heavily in the transfer market over the past few seasons. The Blaugrana are in need of an injection of funds to improve their financial situation, and a potential return of Messi could be beneficial in this regard.
Xavi believes that the Argentine maestro would provide the team with the necessary motivation to perform at their best. “Leo is the one who best understands the reality of the club and knows what it needs. He can lead the team on the pitch and motivate the players.” said Xavi.
Messi’s return to Barcelona is still uncertain, but if it were to happen it could prove to be a huge boost for the Blaugrana. Xavi knows this, and he believes that it would be fantastic for the club if Messi returns.
