Governor Akeredolu Signs LCDA Bill Into Law

On 9th September, 2023, Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON of Ondo State assented to a bill creating 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state. This legislation had already been passed by the state House of Assembly and Governor Akeredolu’s assent was the final step in giving it full legal backing.

The creation of these LCDAs is part of the Governor’s campaign promise to improve grassroots development and bring public service delivery closer to the people. This initiative is key to improving the responsiveness and efficiency of public services and Governor Akeredolu is committed to delivering impactful projects and innovative initiatives to ensure the sustained development of Ondo State.

The formation of the LCDAs marks an important milestone in the development of the Sunshine State and provides a platform for citizens to directly participate and benefit from the Governor’s efforts. Through the LCDAs, more citizens will be able to access educational and health care facilities, improve agricultural productivity, and access economic opportunities.

Governor Akeredolu’s commitment to enabling a vibrant and robust economic system is also being manifested in his selection of a cabinet of professionals to help carry out his development agenda. He has recognised the need for sector specific expertise to implement strategic initiatives and promote economic development.
