Being divorced by a younger age can be seen as a major life change. For many, it’s a sign of a journey that still has plenty of time ahead. Actress Emily Ratajkowski clung to this positive spin in a recent video on TikTok, where she discussed her opinion that being divorced by the age of 30 is “chic.”

Ratajkowski, who Married at 26 and separated over a year ago, is an example of a divorcee who is already looking forward and thriving. In her comments, she offered kind words to young people going through a divorce and suggested that life has an opportunity of greatness planted within it regardless of a failed relationship.

The model-turned-author championed that those in their twenties are in a “trench” and that the best thing is growing up and learning the fine art of creating a better life. She noted that being around 30 brings newfound wealth, looks, and an understanding of life beyond the failed relationship.

Ratajkowski’s message comes days after Joe Jonas, 34, and wife Sophie Turner, 27, officially filed for divorce. After four years of marriage, the popular couple called it quits. In the wake of this, social media users have offered commentary on the matter, while Ratajkowski looks on and speaks from her own divorce experience.

During her divorce journey, the Gone Girl actress spoke on the podcast “Going Mental” in January about the struggles of marriage at a young age. “I didn’t have the courage to leave for a long time. I was really, really unhappy,” she said.

Ratajkowski summed up her message by reiterating to young people who are going through their own divorced journey that the future is full of brighter chapters. “Trust your instincts,” she said. “There is nothing better than being in your 30s, still being hot, maybe having your own money, figuring out what you want to do with your life…[and other learnings you may have]”

In her journey of self-reflection and growth, Ratajkowski is sharing two valuable messages. The first is that being divorced by the age of 30 doesn’t have to be seen as a negative and that there is life beyond a failed marriage. The second, is an encouraging reminder to trust your instincts and own what life has in store for you, regardless of setbacks
