Have you ever looked back fondly on a favorite movie and wondered what it was like to film one of those moments? Chad Michael Murray gave us a special inside look on what it was like filming his classic scene from Freaky Friday.

The 2003 body swap comedy took the world by storm and continues to be beloved almost two decades later. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Murray opened up about his role as Jake, who finds himself falling for his crush who is actually her mother in the body of her daughter.

In one of the movie’s most memorable scenes, Jake serenades Anna’s mother with a rendition of Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time”- and it turns out that the experience was quite noisy.

Murray said that the night before filming, the director sent him the scene to try and the idea. His response wasn’t exactly positive, as he “wasn’t originally a singer” and he made it known that he was a bit uncomfortable with the situation. He was assured that it would work out just fine- and it certainly did in the end.

He stated that filming occurred in a residential community at night with very little noise and nobody in sight-so waking up the neighborhood was inevitable with the lights and Murray singing late into the night. He mentioned that it wasn’t in the script originally, which would lead to believe that it was an idea based off of John Cusack’s boombox scene from Say Anything.

It’s clear that Murray was nervous working with Curtis and Lohan, two veteran actors but Curtis was nothing but supportive throughout the entire process. It’s nice to see Murray look back fondly on the project and happy with his experience on set. It’s even been confirmed that a sequel to Freaky Friday is in the works and both Curtis and Lohan are expected to return.

While nothing can be certain yet, one thing is for sure: Chad Michael Murray will forever be remembered for his classic rendition of “Baby One More Time”. We can’t wait to see what the sequel has in store!
